Secure Nginx instance with automated SSL by CosmicTech

Our AMI is a pre-configured, ready to run image for installing Letsencrypt SSL certificate on Nginx server. On the first SSH login after launching the EC2 instance, the system will detect that no certificate is installed and will prompt the user to install the certificate by following the on screen instructions. However, if the user decides to install the certificate after login, all the user needs to do is to type “” press the enter button and follow the onscreen instructions. With our image, the installation process happens once, as the certificate renewal process is automated. The cost for using this image is free, but you will be charged for the resources used to run this image.

Inspiring girls  to consider a career in tech

While diversity and inclusion are good for any business, CosmicTech’ commitment is based on something more fundamental: it’s simply right. We want to ensure we’re encouraging as many people as possible to explore careers in technology.
We strongly believe that girls need to be more empowered to choose Technology and Science careers!
Aws organised a special event for them, so they had the chance to listen to stories and get inspired from very experienced women in IT. We spoke about the importance of digital skills, especially giving all girls the opportunity to discover their STEM talent!!!

Keeping momentum in our efforts to encourage girls to consider a career in tech, the AWS GetIT programme continues running for the year 9 students who completed the first part of the programme. It was hosting a series (3) of mentoring afternoon teas during which 40 hand picked students met AWS GetIT mentors. The mentors, all external to AWS, represented a variety of industries and are women and men. The event was a platform for the mentors to share their passion and stories with the students as well as answer any questions they may have around careers in tech.
This opportunity gave students a chance to meet real life examples of women and men in tech outside of AWS. To date through the AWS GetIT programme, students have only met AWS employees and this is a chance for them to hear from a diversity of people in technology.

AWS GetIT Mentors:

Mentors from the following companies were invited to attend the mentoring afternoon tea:
– Cosmic Tech
– Deliveroo
– Deloitte
– English Cricket Board
– Financial Conduct Authority
– Novellic
– Oliver Wyman
– The Telegraph

Azure Service Fabric Cluster - Deployment Issues

On my current project I’m working almost entirely with Azure and I’ve decided to share some of the gotchas I’m seeing.

In this post I’ll tackle Azure Service Fabric Cluster deployment issues. I’ll go through some of the problems I’ve seen and solutions that worked for me. Hope this helps people out there. For more details …

If you develop applications and are involved with build management and pipelines then you will have heard about TeamCity, a CI / CD solution from JetBrains. Working with my current client we encountered an issue whereby we couldn't import an exported project because I was getting the below error:
The selected backup file version (829) does not match the current version of the TeamCity database (856). Only backup files created with a TeamCity server of the same version as the current server are supported.

We had a great day, meeting lots of interesting people !
The agenda, speakers and content really showcased some of the challenges our industry are facing. Hearing from and meeting other like-minded professionals in the one day event environment was great.

We thoroughly enjoyed participating and look forward to next year’s edition!
